LOVE IS KENYA //17.02.10

standard

I was hired by Penya to design the artwork for the Love is Kenya concert. I had wanted to make some actual paper art for this but due to tight deadlines I had to fake it. But I really do want to get into creating some layouts by hand. And the main reason I like this job is because it sparked that desire to make some design work by hand. So maybe on the next job.
Anyway, have a look, let me know what you think.

BEHIND THE LENS: AGAIN //29.01.10

*WARNING This post may contain many adjectives…again.*
This past week, Just a band shot their new video promo for their second single off their ‘82′ album, Ha-he. A follow up to last year’s Usinibore which I spoke about here .

I had the pleasure of assisting the awesome Jim Chuchu once again in the making of this and here are a few pics.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT //29.01.10

make-over-post
Hello! It’s been a while. Hope the new year has started well for everyone. Well, as you may or may not have noticed, I did some house cleaning around the blog and just wanted to note that I carelessly designed this blog under a high resolution so it might not look too good under low resolutions. In fact, it might look downright awful. For that, I am sorry. Hope it looks at least half decent to everyone though.

I redesigned the blog mainly because I just wanted to try something new. But I also wanted to clear the blog of the clutter it had before(sidebars, flickr widgets and the like). I’m please with the end result, hope you are too.

Please let me know what you think of the new look. Especially if you hate it.

KINANDA //13.12.09

logo

I was hired to design the identity and promotional material for a new festival in Nairobi, the Kinanda Arts Festival. Quite an exciting and interesting project. Decided to experiment with it a bit but instead of yapping on about it, I’ll just let the small bit of work speak for itself.
I’d love to know what you think of it.

RAPCHA THA SAYANTIST //26.11.09

Blog--Rapcha

Just to update you on a small job I did designing the poster for an upcoming comedy show. The comedy show features Rapcha the Sayantist who I had the pleasure of meeting while assisting Jim Chuchu shoot the pilot of Rapcha’s comedy sketch show – which I will talk more about later.

For now though, I’d love to know what you think of the poster.

*update*

The producers of the show liked this poster so much that they asked me to do another one for a follow up gig with the same theme.I don’t like recycling ideas so I didn’t like that but they insisted. C’est la vie.

Here it is.

LAST YEAR’S TRAGEDY //31.10.09

Last Yea'rs Tragedy

Man, I need to get a hang of this blogging thing. The past few weeks have been a bit busy. Been working on a few projects that I can’t reveal yet but I hope to do so very soon. Well I’ve decided to start my crawl back to proper blogging by introducing you to my favourite Kenyan Metalcore band – Last Year’s Tragedy.

A few weeks ago Last Year’s Tragedy contacted me through a good friend and asked me to come up with a logo for them. I decided to do it as a side project.

I’d love to know what you think about the identity I made for them.

PORTFOLIO 1.0 //17.09.09

PORTFOLIO

Yay! My portfolio section is finally up!

Can’t believe how long that has taken. Not that my work is that extensive that organising it would take ages. Quite the opposite actually, I’m abit embarrased with how small it is. A very small amount of the work I’ve done over the past year and a half can be deemed ‘presentable’ to the general public. And I must say I learned a lot in the process.

AFRICAN DIGITAL ART //30.08.09

I was surprised to find that I was featured on the amazing blog, African Digital Art. I would like to thank them for featuring a person like myself with such a small body of work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The blog itself features very cool African artists and their work. There’s an interview with Jim Chuchu up on that site as well. Please do check it out and be sure to join the network.

Thanks guys!!

WE-ARE-BACK3

But I’m back!

I have indeed been away from the blog for a long while and I feel really bad about it. Life caught me off guard and I found my time scarcely distributed among too many things. From work to school. Despite all that I’m glad to say I’m back and I’m resuming regular blogging – if you are still out there.

The time away has allowed me to plan the direction I would like to take over the next few months. If everything goes according to plan the next few weeks should be quite exciting.
